Nitin Raju, DDS, MD
Dr. Nitin Raju was born in India, but moved to Oklahoma at young age, where his interest in math and sciences began. He did his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He moved to California after graduation, and developed his passion for dentistry assisting at volunteer clinics. He went to dental school at the prestigious University of Michigan School of Dentistry and graduated in 2008.
Immediately after dental school, Dr. Raju moved to San Antonio for six additional years of training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As part of his training, he attended medical school and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio in 2011. His training in oral surgery included treatment of facial trauma, jaw corrective surgery, extraction of wisdom teeth, dental implants and sedation/anesthesia services.
He completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2014 and has practiced in the Austin and San Antonio area since then. He is currently a volunteer faculty member at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry and was a team doctor for the San Antonio Rampage hockey team from 2014-2016. He regularly attends continuing education courses to stay up-to-date in the fields of oral surgery, dental implants, bone grafting, medicine, and sedation/anesthesia.
Dr. Raju is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, and American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Raju enjoys the outdoors, photography, bicycling, and pizza. He has visited 38 out of 59 national parks in the US with hopes of visiting all of them someday. As an adopted Texan, he is proud to say Big Bend National Park is his favorite.
